Corporate strategy

This is a strategy which defines the scope of an organisation’s activities and matches these to the organisation’s environment, its resources and the values and expectations of its stakeholders.

A corporate strategy defines which market or industry sectors the business is in, or should be in, and how business units within the corporation should be integrated with one another, or not. The strategy is developed from wide ranging analysis using a range of tools such as SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) and PEST (political, economic, social and technological) analyses.

Corporate strategy is a term normally found in strategic planning and management.
