External auditors

External auditors examine the annual accounts and financial reports of an organisation.

This is done in order to offer a reasonable assurance that the financial statements are free from material misstatements. External auditors are independent of the organisation being audited, and are not employees of the organisations being audited.

External auditors is a term normally found in risk and control management.
