Forward rate agreements (FRA)

This refers to an agreement to borrow or exchange currency at an agreed point in the future at a pre-agreed rate.

For example, the bank will pay a company the difference if interest rates for borrowing increase in the meantime while, if they decrease, the company will pay the difference to the bank.

Forward rate agreements is a term normally found in financial management.
