Import duties

These are taxes placed on the import of goods into a country.

Import duties are typically imposed to raise revenue or to protect domestic industries. The level of duty varies from government to government and also depending on the type of product being imported. In some cases the overseas supplier will also have had to pay export duties to their government to be allowed to send the items.

Import duties is a term normally found in business economics.
