Labour cost

This refers to the cost of staff.

Labour costs include wages and salaries paid to staff, including overtime payments, plus the cost of any employer’s taxation and employee benefits. They may be direct labour costs – the cost of staff directly involved in producing goods – or indirect – the cost of staff supporting the operation, for example finance staff.

Labour cost is a term normally found in management accounting.
