Lead time

This refers to the period between placing an order and the receipt of the item.

Lead time is used in calculating optimum inventory and re-order levels, for example in ‘just in time’ inventory control. Lead times for production and delivery of items for sale are relevant to the calculation of the cash cycle.

Lead time is a term normally found in management accounting.
